DSC Becoming a 21st Century Librarian

What are YOU doing in your library media center? Are you incorporating new tools & technologies? Are you teaching copyright? Are you promoting reading? Sometimes, as library media specialists, we are isolated. We may be the only media specialist at our school. Our jobs vary greatly depending on circumstances. In this workshop, we’ll examine what characteristics make a 21st century librarian, including the roles of reading promotion, the digital landscape, copyright & information literacy, new technologies, and collaboration and research support . How can you begin this year to transform your library and your school and bring it into the 21st Century? How do the AASL Standards for the 21st Century Learner fit into the puzzle of what we teach and do in our library media centers? (ADE Criteria: Standards/Frameworks, Content, Instructional strategies, Advocacy/leadership, Educational technology)
